The New Herald Is Here...

A lot of you are aware that I've been working on redesigning the Herald.

Feedback that I received was that the pen could use the centerband eliminated, as well as the trim ring on the barrel.  Most people also wanted the ability to post the cap.

The other comment that I received is that it would be very nice to have an eyedropper filling system.

Well, I've paid attention to my customers requests, and all four of the above changes have been made.

As you can see, the black centerband has been eliminated...

In the photo below, you will notice that I have eliminated the barrel trim ring.

And lastly, you will see that the cap can post...

As far as the filling system goes, the pen is now available as an eyedropper, or as a cartridge/converter.

The new version is also a bit shorter and lighter than the original.  It is 18 grams capped and 10 grams uncapped, wheras the original was 29 grams and 14 grams, respectively.

The only parts of this pen that is not made of ebonite would be the nib, feed, and clip.

My previous version of this pen was $175, and then if you wanted an ebonite section, you would add $30, for a total of $205.

This new version comes standard with an ebonite section, and starts at $190.  So this pen is actually a better pen, at a lesser price.

And good news...anyone who has purchased the original Herald from me will receive 10% off the purchase of the updated Herald.

All that I presently have in inventory is ebonite pens.  Acrylics will be available in about a week or two.

New Acrylics...

Hi Pen Fans.

What follows are pictures of some new acrylic material that I was recently able to acquire.

First is a nice array of flecked colors, and then a PERFECT copy of Parker Orange.

Here is the array of flecked acrylics...

From left to right - Red, Black, Green, and Slate.

From left to right - Yellow, Blue, White, Black/White, and Peach.

Below is a great acrylic material.  This is a PERFECT copy of Parker orange.

My supplier of this material literally sent the manufacturer a classic Parker and told him to copy it.

It took the manufacturer two tries, but they got it right.

The pen shown above is a clipless Glenmont.

All of the new materials above are available for any pen design.

Thanks for reading!

A New Feature...

Hey Pen Fans!

I recently put a computer in the shop (very handy), and I thought to myself, "Why not set up a webcam?"

So you will now see a tab on the left side of the page that will access my webcam so you can watch me making pens.  Or you can access the page with this link...

You will also see my typical schedule for when I'm in the shop.  I'll keep that updated so you will know when to expect to see me.

Thanks!

A Major Change....

Hi Pen Fans!

You might have noticed a change to my business.

Effective immediately, Pencraft will be known as The Edison Pen Company.

A couple of reasons...

When I first started my business, I was doing wooden pens from kits.  The name Pencraft fit what I was doing perfectly.

However, my pens have gone beyond the 'craft show' stage, and they are more along the likes of other high-end penmakers.

Because of this, I really feel that Pencraft is no longer a good descriptor of what I do and what my business is all about.

Some of you might know this already, but my business is located in Milan, OH.  This is the birthplace of Thomas Edison.

With this in mind, all of my pens have been named after Thomas Edison in one way or another.

So when I felt that it was time to change the name of my business, The Edison Pen Company was naturally a perfect fit.

The new web address will be edisonpen.com

However, pencraftonline.com will still redirect you right here to this site.

I would like to ask my clients for their understanding if there is any confusion around this change.

Nothing will change except for the name.  The same pens, the same Brian making them, and the same service!

Thanks.

Introducing The Glenmont...

Hey Pen Fans!

I have a new pen design at Pencraft.

This pen is called the Glenmont.

The Glenmont is inspired by the Parker Duofold.  I think you'll agree with me when I say that the orange model just screams "Parker Duofold Big Red".

All of these pens are made from various ebonites.  I've been waiting for a great design to devote some of my more special ebonites to, and this is it.

I will have some acrylics in this design soon.

Click here to read more about this new design.

Thanks!
